Bungie, who developed the popular Halo series, started work for Destiny, an online multiplayer action role-playing first person shooter, in 2012.
A beta was launched for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on July 17, 2014 and it ended on July 27.
After the beta ended, Bungie took to Facebook and Twitter to thank beta testers.
“The Destiny Beta was a tremendous success from where we sat overlooking the Tower,” Bungie wrote.
“If you played, Bungie thanks you from the bottom of our hearts. We learned so much about our game, and how we can make it better.
“Your next adventure begins on September 9th when we launch Destiny. Once we do that, we intend to keep it in orbit for a very long time.
“See you starside,” Bungie concluded.
Bungie didn’t reveal how many beta testers played the game, but community manager Eric Osborne noted on Twitter that he was “gobsmacked by the numbers,” and hinted that he might reveal any “cool stats” that people might want to see.
Bungie also added on Twitter that they
“made some great discoveries of our own, and we’ll use them to make Destiny a great game for all.”
Destiny will be released for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on September 9, 2014.
