Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare could spin into new sub-series

Sledgehammer Games would be happy to see Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare serve as the start of a new sub-series for the long-running shooter franchise.

The upcoming title will be Sledgehammer's first major entry in the series. It's also the first product of the new three-team, three-year development cycle for the franchise also led by Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

"We are very focused on finishing Advanced Warfare right now but yeah, [starting a new Advanced Warfare sub-series] would be great," Sledgehammer director of product development Aaron Halon told Trusted Reviews.

Halon said the team loves the idea but the future of the franchise is ultimately up to Activision.


Since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare released in 2007, the game became annualised and split into several sub-series: Modern Warfare, World at War, Black Ops, and most recently Ghosts.

Activision has not yet revealed whether a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts is in development. Either way, the next Infinity Ward-led shooter will likely not arrive until 2016.

The Call of Duty Advanced Warfare release date is November 4 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Advanced Warfare's multiplayer mode will be revealed on August 11 at 6pm BST/7pm CEST/1am EDT/10am PDT.

I say Re-Release Call of Duty 4, WAW and Mw2 and do what halo did with the master chief bundle. or just release Call of duty 4 with updated graphics..would be epic!

RSL It honestly depends how this game turns out. We havnt seen the MP reveal yet or played it so we just need to be patient and give it ago. Il play it thru my JTAG first to test if i like it. if i do, il buy it!


exactly..i do the same thing man. love using my tag for that specific purpose. :)

Polygon The futuristic theme doesn't look that nice.
It was alright with Titanfall, but now it's just becoming the norm - which kind of sucks.

I'd rather play a Call of Duty based in the now.


Thats why the Modern Warfare series was the best COD's :)

He is free to post whatever he wants just like every other user on here. If you feel the need to, report it. Otherwise, hush. As you are doing the same thing as you accuse him of doing if you are wasting a post JUST to say that he is adding to his post count.

Back OT: I feel that the sub series they talk about isn't going to happen, and this very well may be the LAST Call of Duty game. *fingers crossed*

Dude, no offense but you only backed up the guy that was accused of trying to increase his post count because you do it yourself. You cannot deny this either as I have seen you post tutorials on how to unlock achievements in 1vs100, which cannot be played anymore.

OT: I enjoy playing CoD, but have given up playing due to it being so complicated whereas it was very simple back when I used to play CoD 4.
