Destiny: no major gameplay changes before launch

Destiny’s beta was good enough to convince Activision to leave the full game alone for launch.

Activision has said the Destiny beta was so successful that the full game will be largely unchanged when it goes live on September 9.

Small alterations are being made, but, Activision publishing boss Eric Hirshberg said in a financial call, “I would describe this as tweaks and not major changes, as we saw the fundamentals of the game to be very strong.

“And the good news is because we got 4.6 million players into the beta we were able to test the back-end in scale and it performed really well and stably. We think we’re ready for a great launch with a great partner in Bungie.”

More than 4.5 million players participated in the Destiny beta, making it, according to Activision, “the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date.”

Destiny’s popularity may be causing some friction, however: reports emerged this morning of Limited and Ghost Edition pre-orders being cancelled.

That's because retailers are cancelling customers orders as the demand is so high. Don't try and make it sound like people are changing their minds, when that's not the case.


They should have made 74 editions like watch dogs

yeah though don't have much work to do, but definitely some 'tweaks' are needed. can't wait for the game to come out!

A-10 Before the beta, I wasn't thinking of buying this game at all. After playing it, I'm really looking forward on my pre-order that will be arriving in the mail. :)


I also pre-ordered it. I am looking forward to it as i enjoyed the beta!

Extremely excited for the release and especially the collectors editions this entails but I hope there's more classes to be used and more variations in guns between the classes I found that too many of the weapons were universal.
