BBC iPlayer Xbox One app will launch "by the end of this year"

In a blog post that covered the status of BBC iPlayer across different connected TVs, the corporations executive product manager Marcus Parnwell took the opportunity to address a few of the most frequently asked questions he receives. One of these questions read thusly: "You said Xbox One was coming soon - any update there?"

To which Parnwell replied: "Yes. I am happy to announce that we're aiming to launch new BBC iPlayer on Xbox One by the end of this year."

I have this on my TV so I'm not really excited or anything. I'd appreciate it if Microsoft concentrated on updating and enhancing the gaming experience rather then the programes and film apps.
