A strike team heads to Mars in the latest trailer for Destiny, showing snippets of combat and exploration on the overrun planet.

Though Destiny's opening cinematic begins on the surface of Mars, guardians must fight their way across Earth and the Moon before they can set their boots on the red planet and drive back its new inhabitants, the Cabal.

Destiny's first expansion, the Dark Below, will be released in December. It will take players deep beneath the surface of the moon, where a dark god "has risen an evil army in the depths of the Hellmouth, the home of the Hive enemy race."

The Dark Below and the House of Wolves expansion will be included in the Destiny Expansion Pass.

New screenshots released at Gamescom earlier this week showed off some of the fancy new armor guardians can collect as they advance through Destiny's PvE and PvP encounters.

The Destiny release date is September 9 on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
