PSN down after suffering DDOS attack

Sony isn't expected to begin maintenance on the PlayStation Network until tomorrow, but PlayStation users were surprised to wake up and find that the online service is already down.

Upon trying to login to PSN, users are greeted with error code "NW-31456-9," which reads "Cannot connect to the server within the time limit."

I got the error code: "NW-31201-7," which simply reads "Cannot connect to the server."

Apparently, it is the result of a DDOS attack by a hacking group known as Lizard Squad. The group admitted to the attack, but didn't really give a reason other than the usual "Sony is a greedy corporation" excuse.

The official Sony PlayStation hasn't confirmed if this is the case, but Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley acknowledged the "large scale DDOS," adding that "it's almost under control now."

I fully agree, the security is just bad and I feel bad been a PS User at times.


I also agree with that. Upon multiple occasions I've seen Sony get attacked and go down. Like that time... Hmm, 2 or 3 years ago was it? When Playstation went down for over a month. You'd think from that they'd learn to make it all better. But nope, Sony just want all the monies and won't spend it on protection.


I remember that because it was a month after First Strike map pack came out for Black Ops on Xbox. The DLC was coming to PS3, but was hacked and down for month so Treyarch did a double xp week for PS3 I think. Fun times.

aundeadrockstar here we go again -_- I swear if this happens when Destiny comes out I'll be pissed.
only reason I wasted so much money on the ps4 was for Destiny.


Was planning on doing the same but damn man. Good luck on Sony not **** up.
