Maxis producer: If Sims 4 isn't successful, there's no Sims 5

EA isn't thinking about the next Sims game at all, but the future of the series hinges on The Sims 4 performing well, Maxis producer Grant Rodiek said on the official Sims forum.

"We're not working on Sims 5," Rodiek said. "We're not thinking about Sims 5. If Sims 4 isn't successful, there won't be a Sims 5." This isn't an absolute credo, however – when another fan asked for clarification on that statement, Rodiek said, "It's not all or nothing, per se, but something has to pay for 5."

The Sims 4 topped the UK charts last week. We've been playing it as an MTV's Real World simulator, with members of the Joystiq staff living together, cooking for each other, working and building rocket ships.

To make lots of money, of course! I do applaud them for not creating garbage that no one likes just to make a dollar though.

I use play the sims a lot a couple of years back, around the time of The Sims and The Sims 2 but now it's just the same thing over and over again in my opinion and it just get boring.

This kind of sucks. Sims was a game that I, and many others, have played a ton in the past. And to see it actually die out.

I did not want to see this day.

I use to play this all the time, but I don't know, as I got older I grew out of Sims, with the occasionally week that I craved to play it and then it is not enjoyable to me anymore. Sims 3 came out and I bought that for my sister, I played it once but barely had fun. Eh, sometimes it sucks getting older. #Nostalgic
