FIFA 15 removing trade offers from Ultimate Team mode

4.5
Electronic Arts announced that it has disabled a key feature in FIFA 15's Ultimate Team mode in an attempt to crack down on the harmful trade of in-game currency.

In recent FIFA series games, players could exchange in-game items, coins, and players with friends using the Trade Offers feature. Finding that coin sellers often used the service to shuttle ill-gotten currency between accounts, EA removed the feature from this year's game. The coin-selling market is tied to account hacking and phishing, and functions in previous FIFA games could be exploited to cheat players out of cash by artificially inflating auction bids.

EA's Ultimate Team revisions supplement recent changes to its cheating policy, which gives coin buyers three strikes before they're permanently booted from FIFA online play. Sellers are dealt harsher penalties, and risk being banned from all EA-published games for coin selling and farming.

AudemarsPiguet Why on earth would they remove this feature? It was great. This kind of reminds me of when Forza Horizon got rid of the Auction House from previous Forza's. Thank goodness they are bringing it back along with tuning in Forza Horizon 2.

I've not been keeping up to date on Horizon 2 because I wanted it all to be a surprise when I get it, but Horizon 2 is going to have an auction house? That's great, it will be a great feature in the game.

On topic. Fifa sucks, as to all sport related games. This is purely my opinion and if you enjoy sport related games, I don't mean to offend you but surely if you like sports, just go outside and do it for real? Each to their own though I suppose.

Could you see how someone could make the argument for any other types of games?? Racing, go drive cars, FPS, go join the army. I mean it's all for fun.

I knew someone was going to say that. Sports, anyone can literally walk outside and do. The majority of the time, there are places to play football within walking distance. For racing, you need to buy a capable car, go to the track, spend money on petrol etc etc. For FPS, some people might not want to join the army but want the experience. For sports, literally anyone can play sports and it doesn't cost a huge amount. In fact, it costs less to play football IRL than it does on a console..

Car racing, is actually a sport. Just like for whatever reason that horse riding is considered a sport. Video gaming has now become an electronic sport, a sport is just a game played with more than 1 person, and the activity has to have a governing body ruling a league, or tournaments. Which, by definition, EGL and MLG both do that. So just playing FIFA is a sport now lol

But yeah, exactly what I mean! It literally would be cheaper to go play football IRL which I much prefer to sitting there playing a game that doesn't even understand the offside rule ffs.

Ugh. This is another way to get people to buy coins, and so they will spend more money buying packs to get those coins. I love football more than most, but FIFA video games are just for money. I'm cool with the 40/45 quid I have to pay when I buy it, but the few hundred quid you need to get a basically good team? Because let's face it, no way in hell can you just do pack openings with coins. Not unless you buy the coins, or get them from selling players in the first place. I think they should steer away from UT, it's the main gamemode they focus on for ALL EA Sports games, and it shows that every little feature they add/remove from UT is a desperate way to get a bit of dollar

Good to see they are cracking down on people that abuse this to try earn money from selling coin's, It was cool if you wanting to trade players with someone but we will just need to see if this is a good idea or a bad idea.

SamBoy991 Well done EA. Suck it CHEATERS

Coin selling isn't cheating, in fact many people class it as a business, making thousands of pounds is pretty good from a game

Are you crazy a couple years ago there was a large breach of date about peoples credit card details and people used stolen cards to buy fifa points to sell on websites. Is it fair that the company has to the refund people millions in stolen card details and the in game economy is ruined by it.

There is a difference between coin selling snd frauding someones credit card details.

I'm glad, but this sucks for the legitimate Coin sellers. Some people make a living doing it.
