Xbox One outsells PlayStation 4 during Black Friday

4.7
With Black Friday in the past and many of us owning our new hardly fought gaming consoles with bruises to show for it. But, the question of what console won the day arises. A study by InfoScout has the answer.

Microsoft had a significant edge on Sony this year dominating more than half of the console sales alone. Even Microsoft's previous generation Xbox 360 out sold Nintendo's newest console the Wii U.

How about what parents bought for their kids? Well 92 percent that purchased the Wii U say they purchased the console for their child, of the buyers of the Xbox One 66 percent purchased the console for their kid. PlayStation 4 buyers mostly bought it for themselves with only 45 percent buying the console as a gift.

Last year Sony was also beaten by Microsoft for Black Friday console sales with the Xbox One and 360 clutching 61 percent of the console market, while the Playstation 4 and 3 held a small in comparison 30 percent.

Sony has had it's fair share of being beaten on Black Friday as the last two years have showed. But, what did you guys pick up while battling out there?

GreatLogic It was cheaper, that would be the main thing to do with it.... I own both and still think the PS4 is 5x better.

Exactly, plus having alot of different bundles help as well. The PS4 has outsold the Xbox One since the console launched last year, until now. Like GreatLogic I have both, but the PS4 is my main console. Both have there pros and cons, it all just comes down to personal preference.

Grimlock I know that xbox one will somehow outsell ps4.

It won't. The only reason that it did now was because of the price. When it goes back up again the Sony will continue to destroy the One. Why wouldn't it?

ODST I dont get the fanboys on this site anymore. When the PS4 outsells the Xbone it's "because it's cheaper". When the Xbone (320 USD) outsells the PS4 (400 USD), PS4 people are shot down for saying "it's because the xbone was cheaper".

The cheaper console will easily move and sell more units than it's competitor. PS4 did bundles with games this year without slashing prices while Xbones took a huge hit and probably lost money on the products they selling due to the sheer amount they were moving, and all of this loss just for some bragging rights about winning sales during black friday.

I very HIGHLY doubt that Microsoft took any sort of losses at all. Company's don't take losses just to move units. They may have not earned as much, but the number of units made makes up for the price difference. We could get into a whole new topic about supply and demand curve and where the equilibrium is.

Then let's go there. If you're buying a Xbone with 2 games for 320 USD while the usual price is 520 USD, there's a 38.5% price reduction to the consumer. If Xbone's are allegedly being made for 396 USD, there's already a loss on the console's hardware. Adjust hardware depreciation by let's say 10% so consoles the Xbone only costs 356 USD. Microsoft is selling the consoles for a loss not to mention there is a whole another 2 games to be included in their bundle. Selling the consoles for a loss is an okay strategy but compared to the numbers of selling for profit, it's just sad.

We're talking about a 100 dollar loss per consoles or so right now.

The 320 bundles are the ones without kinect homie.

That's a surprise. Then again people were probably waiting for the price drops.

I could be wrong but..
Aren't these 'cheaper' Xbox one consoles been sold without kinects? Those alone add 100 to the original price, now Ms are not including them on some bundles could that be your 100 usd shortfall?
