GTA V PS3 and 360 will be supported with DLC 'for as long as possible'

Rockstar has assured players of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto V that they won't be ditched in favour of supporting owners of the recently released Xbox One and PS4 editions of the game.

In an online Q&A, a Rockstar spokesperson was asked: "Now that you have GTA V out for next gen consoles, are you going to forget about the rest of us?"

They responded: "[We'll] certainly not [forget past-gen] as players on PS3 and Xbox 360 can look forward to online heists and other updates that are in the works coming soon.

"We are incredibly thankful to our original generation of GTA V and GTA Online players on those systems and wish to continue providing content to them for as long as we can.

"Of course, at some point in the future, there may be a point where we reach the limits for the previous generation of consoles as there may be some updates that are only technically possible on the new hardware. But we do hope to continue delivering as many updates as we can for all four consoles for as long as possible."

Rockstar also said it will offer GTA Online players "a small Christmas gift" as a token of goodwill following the delayed release of the much anticipated Heist missions DLC, which will now launch in early 2015. Available now, the gift reportedly includes a Santa outfit, pyjamas, anti-tank mines and a homing rocket launcher.

Its been a year since the game game out, still no heist, but they say it will come soon. How much longer do they have to make us wait? $60 for a Game, they made $2 Billion i believe in the first week or so, and i think it was like $800 million on release. They want us to Re-buy the game for Next Gen, i think we previous owners should get like a discount TBH, having to re-buy a game you already own is ludicrous. If you ask me i think they just want to Double what they made, that goes for all the companies that make the same game but for the next gen(Ghost,AW,GTA,BF etc...)

Its a great game but come one paying another 60 Bucks, you have to pay another 10 bucks for MC on the ONE even tho you already own a digital copy....

Si, Current Gen is being held back by Old Gen users.. I'm not getting what I paid ~$700 for, and Old Gen players are not getting what they pay for anymore. So cut Old Gen off, make Next Gen what it's supposed to be. Old Generation players will have an amazing product waiting for them.


imbarnett, reading this has actually made me realise what you and Saki wrote, why should I be thinking of it in a way that should make it fair when the PS4 I own should be getting much more due to it being 'current gen'. It's actually quite silly thinking that I bought a newer console and it's being held back by the older ones.

You have pretty much made me realise how silly the thing I wrote was.

How does that make sense to you? "I bought it, so I should have the same experience as everyone else who bought it."

So if you buy a new phone and someone else with the same phone had their battery blowup, you'd complain you didn't have that happen to you? You buy a 2013 F-150 for $30k and someone else buys a 2014 F-150 for the same $30k price tag, you'd complain when the newer model has more things even though "I bought it so I deserve the same."? R* decides to add an extension to Los Santos and with all the new textures, buildings etc it's going to use another 750mbs of RAM. 360 / PS3 only have 500, so lets complain when we don't get it when it's literally impossible for you to run the extension. "I bought it, I deserve the same." Yeah okay, just put in the request for MS / Sony to send you another 2gigs of RAM to shove into your 8 year old console so you can play a GTA DLC. Old-gen < Current-gen. Guess what, they're not the same. They'll never be the same. If you go into life thinking everything needs to be fair and suit what you think is right, you're gonna have a really shitty life.

Obviously if it's impossible for the older consoles to get the same DLC then thats hard luck. It's worth upgrading I suppose. After reading what you said I will put it like this: IF POSSIBLE, anyone who bought the game no mater what console should deserve to get whatever they release... of course, IF IT'S POSSIBLE. All you simply had to do is explain why I was wrong and correct me nicely. Instead you go comparing GTA DLC to a 30k car and to be honest, being a bit nasty about it. As for my TTG name, I was looking for unused PS3 names and stumbled across it, I thought it looked cool and used it as me TTG name. I may be a little bit thick but there was no need to be like that... To be honest, people like you who can be like that for no reason are pathetic.


You didn't say "if it's possible", you said "no matter what console you are on, if you bought the game then you deserve to get the same as every other console." which is an ignorant and self-entitled statement. In a perfect world would all things be equal and fair? Sure, but we don't live in such a place. I'm not pathetic because "I can be like that", I'm not mad or going on a rant -- I'm just giving you examples of how ridiculous you sound when you boil down the DLC situation to "we should all have the same experience". Turn that ignorance into knowledge and see for yourself why it's not possible for old-gen to have the exact same experience as current-gen, instead of complaining about it and getting defensive and calling me pathetic when I tell you that will never happen.

I don't sugar coat things, that's the type of person I am. I can't stop you from taking things personally which you obviously did. It's frustrating when people say ignorant things constantly, especially with GTA and the DLC situation. "Oh my 8 yr old console should run 1080p 30FPS w/ the exact same DLC as current-gen, just add it in idk why you dont" I see this shit all the time on the social club and now it's leaking onto TTG. All you need to do is google "Xbox 360 vs Xbox One specs" or "PS3 vs PS4 specs" and you'll see the MASSIVE difference between the two hardware sets and (you hopefully) wont question R* when they don't release certain DLC for old-gen.
