Um, there were hackers involved in this? Definitely NOT!
I'll try and tell you how to prevent and why they couldn't
prevent it. Think there's a guy 10 foot deep in an open
hole chained to the floor. The hole is rather narrow so
when someone decides to flood him it will take less
water. Think of the person as PSN if the water gets to
his head = PSN Offline. But then PSN gets wiser this
time he makes the hole a lot wider, thus causing
a lot more water to drown the guy. (Widening
the hole = Upgrading Bandwidth)

A lot has changed now, Sony have really upped there servers compared to PS3.. Although it is still slitely easier to attack as mentioned by real hackers.

But they also said Microsoft were faster to upgrade their security than Sony and that Microsoft stopped the attack faster than Sony.
