New internet TV service coming to Xbox One

4.7
Microsoft announced that a new internet TV service called "Sling TV" will be coming to US Xbox One owners in early 2015.

A partnership with Dish is bringing the new subscription based live internet TV service, which will offer streams of major cable channels. The cost of the service will be $20 per month with channels including ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, Food Network, HGTV, Cartoon Network, and Disney Channel.

The new service will launch on Xbox One first, then possibly followed by other devices. All Xbox Live members will be getting an extended one month free trial at launch.

I own a Sling Box which is pretty much this service, except better. My dad uses it when he travels around the world. He can be in Germany and steam TV from here in the U.S. by using the Sling app on his iPad. The service is great, but only one person can use the sling at a time. Ive used it while camping to project movies on blankets! It is a 10/10 great service.

Let's hope they create a UK Tv service in the future or even a movie one or they possibly link up with Sky Movies that would be awesome and I'd 100% get it and pay for it :D

Hopefully the channel selection is increased above what they have listed in the article, the don't even have the anime channel.

Why only US lol ? Do u Europeans not enjoy those channels also plus us who have kids would 100% welcome this and would not mind the monthly fee but yet again we have been pushed aside. I thought paying extra for Digital games was enough of a kick in the teeth but this is just salt to the wound. Get your act together Micro$oft.

Pretty cool, would be good if it's in the UK also. 20$ isn't that much however Xbox live members should get a discount maybe 15$.

The-Professor That's not bad. $20 per month. I might have to try this.

I don't know, I don't spend a single penny on TV a month and I can still watch all of these shows on my laptop? Live if I wanted too, and it's all in HD and ripped without ads so I much prefer it. For that price with those channels, you're better off saving your money and just pirating everything.
