PS4 will outsell Xbox One through 2018, says analyst

The PS4 will continue to dominate the Xbox One, according to one analyst firm.

So far, the PS4 has been trampling all over the Xbox One.

From launch in November 2013 through October 2014, it outsold the Xbox One month-to-month. It gave up its lead during November and December, but took back the crown as soon as the holidays ended - despite Microsoft’s decision to keep its console’s price low.

PS4 units in the wild outnumber the Xbox One by at least a couple of million. Sony has sold 18.5 million PS4 units as of last week; the last update from Microsoft was 10 million units shipped in November.

Naturally we don’t expect Microsoft to take this lying down, and it’s such early days that the outcome of the console war is still anybody’s guess – or is it? According to research firm Strategy Analytics, the deal is done and dusted – the PS4 will outsell the Xbox One by 40% through 2018.

In a report summarised by GamesIndustry, the analyst company said there will be 80 million PS4 units in the wild by 2019, with sales tracking closely to the phenomenal PS2. Meanwhile, the Xbox One will have sold a comparatively modest 57 million.

Strategy Analytics said the console market is alive and well, and that core gamers are adopting new hardware faster than before. Any perceived slackening in sales, it said, is due to the huge glut of casual Wii owners last generation, who have moved on to smartphone and tablet games instead.

Till Xbox one makes another sale for their consoles lol but we still have the better games

I already knew this would happen. Once the console price starts to lower for the PS4, they could dominate the console market. The only reason Xbox One is holding up is because the price, not their crappy exclusive games.

Holy smokes the fanboys have come out to play. Every Xbox dong rider is still trashing on about that breach from 4 years ago when online service was free and people didn't even have to have a debit/credit card on their account. It's not like either service is perfect. XBL has their own flaws that everybody here just loves to "forget" and look the other way.
Everybody needs to chill out. Neither console is perfect and the Xbone isn't going to catch up to PS4 numbers because that window of opportunity is closing increasingly fast with the primary markets for the Xbone (Europe and NA) already being saturated with PS4s.
If Xbone fanboys want something to defend themselves from, here: The Xbones still contain the software and functions of the originally concepted DRM that nobody liked from E3 2013. With a flick of a switch or an update, Microsoft could easily brick any console that tries to run anything but the corresponding disk to serial numbers.

I think it's stupid as all its going to do is mess with the company's to see who can make the best deals but as Grimlock said xbox one will always have the better games.

That doesn't mean the Xbox One is superior, it means Microsoft are partnered with the people hosting the tournaments.

Maybe, but the Quality over quantity is what matters per say. The PS series will always have higher because of reputation of PS2, but I can say with ease taht MS develops the consoles far better. The Xbox consoles are just better in every way, to me.

The amount of people I see on forums and SN sites saying their PS4 now collect dust is unbelievable. I used to have PS back in the day, but I give up for better quality and service. To me it's a no-brainer. Off course just my opinion.

HOF Xbox one will eventually catch up when people realize sony can't keep their own servers up.


Microsoft can't keep theirs up either, also MS have a hell of a lot more money than Sony so there's no excuse.


But has our servers been out for a month straight? I don't think so. Also Microsoft hasn't been hacked to the point where peoples passwords/ cc numbers been stolen? As for the ddosing of the servers of xbox, they solves it within minutes of it happening. Can your internet survive a ddos attack that big? I think not


No my internet can't withstand a ddos attack of that size, I'm not a multi billion corporation. Also I think you'll find it most certainly wasn't fixed in minutes over the Christmas period.

then name one company that can protect them selves from a ddos attack of that size huh? its almost impossble to protect them. the fact is that xbox had some services issues but i was still able to play online on my games. unlike playstaion whos server almost died LOL


The fact is with all that money ddos protection isn't out of reach and isn't actually as difficult and "impossible" as you think. Also does it really matter what console we own? Both have their ups and downs so I'm not going to get into a fanboy debate with you.
