Fallout 4 isn’t coming to PS3 or Xbox 360 as it “will never work”

4.6
Fallout 4 isn’t in development for last-gen consoles, despite what the official website’s source code showed earlier this week.

According to a post on NeoGAF from Bethesda’s global community lead Matt Grandstaff, Fallout 4 will skip last-gen because the “stuff we’re doing will never work there,” he said.

When Bethesda officially announced Fallout 4 on June 3, neither PS3 nor Xbox 360 were mentioned, which isn’t really much of a surprise. The source code, which I am not super great at interpreting for any website, may have been referring to other content on the back end.

Whatever the case, it’s for PC, PS4 and Xbox One only.

Bethesda’s E3 showcase will take place the Sunday evening before E3 and the media will get a 20-30 minute behind closed doors demo at the annual E3 show. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the latest entry in the series come June 14.

RarityTheUnicorn I wish they made it PC exclusive that way they could make a good game...

So because a game is multi-platform it's suddenly not a "good game"? In what way would making Fallout a PC exclusive game benefit Bethesda at all? The only differences between current-gen and PC would be higher FPS / graphic fidelity (if you can handle it) and mod support. There's no magic "PC Master Race" switch that's flipped once a game is a PC exclusive. last-gen is 10 years old, the difference between them and current-gen is huge; the difference between current-gen and PC is little.

There's no advantage PC has over current-gen that will make it any better of a game. Unless you aren't satisfied with anything but the best looking game possible and wouldn't play the game otherwise, it shouldn't matter to the vast majority of PC gamers that this is a multi-plat game. In fact, PC gamers can crank up the settings to as high as they want, consoles won't affect them at all. It'd be a poor decision on Bethesda's part for them to make this a PC only game, they'd be making a fraction of the total sales they would have selling to current-gen AND PC.

This really isn't a surprise. I'm sure most developers will be heading this route soon.

I hope all games do this. Last gen is holding us back

Well people shouldn't be upset that companies are done making last gen console games. That's why they're called last gen.

Well, there's a bright side as well as a dark side.. Bright side is that they can focus on including better graphics and a better gameplay experience, since they have more to work with.. Bad news (for some, not all), they can't play it since it's not releasing on last gen. It was bound to happen.. I have a PC though, so no issues here.

That sucks for people who still have old gen consoles like me. Not that into gaming that much anymore so I don't see why I would upgrade.

Yeah that's really smart lets just cut out consoles that came out a year ago because they're too 'outdated'.

They are computers for a reason, consoles are just less pricey if you wanna run the game with really good fps and good quality.

At times like this, I'm really glad I've got an Xbox One. This game is going to be fantastic, especially on current gen.
