E3′s PC gaming press conference included an intriguing announcement from Bohemia Interactive’s Brian Hicks: in the near future, DayZ will offer an offline single-player mode, allowing modders to test their work extensively before deploying it to the Steam Workshop.

Hicks also revealed that Bohemia intends to release tools to allow players to host their own DayZ servers.

Nice to see this being implemented. I think all survival games should have a single player dynamic to them. Without that, it's more like a PvP game all the time haha.

Qwel to bad I already returned this game, singe player seems more suited for me rather than getting trampled by randoms sniping from the hills :/

Sniping from the hills is the funniest thing to do IMO.
