Sony announces a lighter PS4 and a new 1TB console

Sony has announced a 1TB PS4 model due for release next month, as well as a new lighter and less power hungry 500GB model.

The 1TB PS4 Ultimate Player Edition launches before the end of June in Japan, and comes to Europe July 15. As for the 500GB model, it also launches in Japan at the end of June. Sony has not yet revealed a date for North America and Europe.

The new 500GB model is 10 percent lighter than the current version and uses 8 percent less energy. It will feature a matte finish on the HDD cover and comes in black and white.

The 1TB model will continue to use original console architecture, the platform holder told Eurogamer.

We’re still waiting on retailers to price the console and will update as soon as we know more.

Awwww the console wars continue its a sham that computers have had past 1TB memory capacity for a long time now.

instead of this they should of just done what they did with the phat ps3 or ms with the backwards compatibility since its most likely going to be cheaper to buy the hdd alone

I'm guessing they did this because xbox added a new feature so they probably just done this for the sake of it because you can just buy a 1tb hdd and add it yourself or even bigger sized hdds so it's a waste of money

I hope ts not a ridiculous price, but im glad i saw this because i was getting ready to get a PS4 now im definitely waiting on this console.

This is cool and the 1TB HDD is nice. But I dont see me spending 500 dollars on this.

Hoping for the PS4 drops in price. Would like to get one.
