GTA Online updates no longer being released for PS3 and Xbox 360

Rockstar Games said that they will no longer be releasing GTA Online updates for PS3 and Xbox 360. As announced today the new Freemode Events update will be coming September 15th, but it will not be seeing it's way onto PS3 or Xbox 360 consoles.

The reason for no longer releasing updates to older consoles is it has become impossible for the technology of the older consoles to support it. Rockstar Games has said last December that some updates would be impossible to release for older consoles and that they would do all they could for as long as possible.

A statement provided to Kotaku UK:
"As we mentioned previously, we always knew there might be a point where we would reach the technical capacity of what the older generation of consoles can handle as each downloadable update requires additional memory both for assets and for additional scripting. We have continued to optimize the entire game over time in order to squeeze as much memory as we possibly could out of the last-generation hardware and at some point, continuing to add content for those systems could cause the risk of instability to the game overall."

It's actually helping the modders. Modders won't have to update their patches and stuff now that there isn't more updates. Now there will always be modders capable wth a bunch of menus because we don't have to worry about preparing for the next update with patches.

It's a little disappointing but maybe we will get more DLC to the next gen consoles as they no longer have to spend the time working on current gen DLC, this also does mean that there probably won't be any more title updates for GTA V which means that mods will stay for awhile and might get some new things.

Or the last generation consoles are now capable of handling the information necessary to update GTAV on them. You know, the reason they gave.

Why? You could easily get it on X1 for a cheap price most likely $20 used or something. Plus the game will have like 10x more content.

Why even keep a 360? Shit has been outdated since Nov 2013.


You obviously don't know anything, Xbox 360 is 10x better than Shit Box 1, everyone is switching to PS4 because XB1 is garbage.
