PS4 Stealth Update Unlocks Extra CPU Core

A new stealth update by Sony for the PS4 has allowed developers to take advantage of a new CPU core. This follows Microsoft unlocking an extra CPU core for the Xbox One, thus allowing for improved performance.

Sony stated that, “Core 6 is now denoted as shared, and for new captures, Razor splits the activity on that core between user and system. Old captures still show core 6 as a system core, as was accurate at the time they were made.”

Both the PS4 and Xbox One are based off of AMD’s Jaguar chipset which features eight cores. It should be interesting to see which direction this goes in, especially with all the concern about both current gen consoles essentially being outdated at launch and being outmatched by PCs down the line.

Not really. They're both equal in performance. Honestly neither of them is better than the other


PS4 started off strong and still is strong, xbox one started terrible and is building its way up to the ps4, maybe even past it at a point.

The xbox is still bad, they advertised the thing at 1080p and we are lucky if it pulls a ported 1080p half the time. And as for PC, the PSN players triple the amount of PC players --- therefore its not about the PC master race.

FN-Zombie am i the only one that doesnt care about the console wars? i mean i have an xbox one and a Gaming PC everyone is allowed to make their own choice about console. As for this website being all for Xbox i mean when u think about it hosting modded lobbies on xbox is what made the site as popular as it is.

cant stand people pushing one console on people because they think its good this isnt religion its a video game console. stop trying to control everyone.


i agree i also hate it when people say ps sucks pc sucks and xbox rocks its like no it doesnt all are pretty much the same since all of those have the same games some are exclusives some arent people need to learn that all consoles/systems are the same and i agree with you the console wars are stupid


The only reason i prefer xbox is Halo and the controller is more confortable to me that the PS4. But other than that i have no argumetns as to which is better and i dont see why anybody else should have a reason to bicker.

There was a similar update applied to the xbox one already. But you are a 100% correct about this site being bias af. This is great in my opinion being a Indie developer it unlocks so much potential. Yes I am a Xbox guy, but I love seeing companies better there console for the consumer. Great Job Microsoft and Sony.


Honestly half the time I feel like the admins of this (and other gaming sites) post stuff just so they can watch the console wars brew. But tbh if I were them, I would take the opportunity for entertainment as well.
