The market for paid games on Steam is estimated have been worth $3.5B last year.

Steam Spy, the independent sales and stats tracker, has revealed some interesting data about the number of copies sold as well as revenue 2015 Steam games have made. Steam Spy’s latest report reveals that paid games market, which doesn’t include free-to-play or DLCs, was worth $3.5 billion.

A total number of 3000 new games were released on the store-front during the past year, compared to 1900 in 2014. Interestingly, the number of new monthly releases on Steam stopped growing. December, which is when Steam hosts its largest yearly sale, was the biggest month in terms of revenue, with April coming in at no. 2, in no small part due to the release of GTA 5.

As for the top games, GTA 5 and Fallout 4 occupied the two top slots in both units sold and revenue. Other top-sellers include ARK: Survival Evolved, Rocket League, H1Z1, Cities: Skylines, and Besiege. Generally speaking, the list for top sellers shows a decent number of indies, with the revenue list reserved mostly for AAA and big-budget games.
