“There absolutely has been [on Xbox Live outages and problems] and keeping our fans connected to the games they love is the most important thing at Microsoft. We really innovate in a lot of spaces regarding gaming and the internet such as Xbox Live. We put a network port at the back of the original Xbox a year before we knew what we are going to do with it. Everything is now connected. I don’t want to say complicated but it’s kind of. Saying Live is down is kind of an immediate response because you can’t play games and it doesn’t matter whether you can watch movies or something but Live as a whole, historically hasn’t gone down in a long time,” he said in an interview with IGN.
Larry also spoke about the recent Xbox Live issues and although he hasn’t received the full details, he revealed the team at Microsoft is working 24/7/365 to make sure the system is stable.
“I haven’t gotten the full debrief of what is happening in the past few days because I have been travelling. What a lot of folks think when it goes down is “Hey, you know what? We are at the drive through right now. We should get to the office and see what’s up.” We have a whole team and it looks like NASA . Each of the station has a different information. This is matchmaking. Here is the friends list. Here is the store. And when they see something happen they snap into action. They know before pretty much before anyone that something is going on.”
And the end of the day, he believes they hate such problems but admits some issues are more complicated than others. “Unfortunately some problems are just more complicated than others. Nobody likes it. We hate it. Nobody wants this to happen and unfortunately some issues take a bit longer to resolve.”
Moving on, Major Nelson also spoke about E3 2016, stating that they have been working on it for a few weeks. When asked what they have planned at this year’s show and whether it will make fans goes “woah!”, Larry did not revealed too much.
“Everything in my [E3] planning docs are code names so I don’t know what they are. So it could be four “WOAHs” but I just don’t know what they are. So I like to stay in the dark.”
With around three months to go for the big show, we can’t wait to see what Microsoft has in store for Xbox One and Windows 10 owners.
