E3 2016: Microsoft announces the next Xbox, Project Scorpio

Microsoft has just confirmed the existence of an upgraded Xbox console.

Microsoft has announced Project Scorpio, the next Xbox console. During its E3 2016 briefing, head of Xbox Phil Spencer said he believes it will be the most powerful console ever.

Scorpio will boast an 8-core CPU, with a GPU capable of 6 teraflops. This graphics processor will be the most powerful in a console, according to the announcement.

Microsoft promises “true” 4K gaming and “high-fidelity virtual” reality with Scorpio, which will coexist alongside the 2013 Xbox One, as well the newly-announced S model. All games available on either console, as well as accessories, will be compatible with Scorpio.

It’s due for release holiday 2017.

Whilst I believe this will be considerably appealing to heavy gamers on Xbox, I do not think that it will be worth shedding out on for the casual gamer. Over the past year I have found myself playing on my Xbox less and less, and even with the upgrades, I do not see it worth my while. I would only ever consider upgrading should a GAME retailer hold an offer where you trade in your current Xbox One and get a decent discount off.

I'd say around 450$USD maybe 500$?


the price for the console is $299.


They didn't announce the price of the Scorpio. I would guess $500 or more because of all the specs.
