1. Make sure that you are as fully prepared as possible before entering combat with a dragon, and able to use a bow. The higher your level, the better.

2. Most of the time you encounter a dragon, it will be a random dragon, which you can tell by looking at the dragon's name (Dragon, Blood Dragon, etc.). They may have specialties such as ice or fire, so resist potions might help with that.

3. First off, you want to make sure you have support. The dragons lose attention quite quickly. The dragons usually go for objects that are moving (horses, people, giants, wolves, etc.), so try and stay around those, so when the dragon's breath hits the moving object, the target will change aggression towards the dragon.

4. When the dragon is not paying attention, shoot as many arrows as possible at it.

5. If, at any point in time, you start running low on health, just put on the double-cast heal and run around until your health is back up.

6. Repeat this until the dragon is defeated/dead.

7. A tip would also to get guards involved, as they make a huge distraction with the dragon as well.

8. If the dragon flies around your head taunting you, summon a Flame Atronach. If that doesn't work, using Relentless force shout will force a hovering Dragon to land.

9. Congratulations! You successfully killed a dragon!
