There are many SATA and USB chipsets that change the HPA on a 360 HDD when connected hence causing it to set it's security bit and making it unreadable by the Xbox (E69 Error)

You will need to have your 360 drive connected to your primary onboard SATA port (if you have a PHAT drive you can use a CK3 HDD Adapter or simply take the drive out of its case)

1. Make sure your SATA is in IDE/LEGACY mode and not AHCI (HDAT2 says that it works in AHCI but it didn't on my motherboard...it may be different with yours)

2. Boot from the CD and you will be asked to type HDAT2 and then press enter. You will see a couple of detection sequences where you will need to press enter a couple of times to get to the menu. They look like this:

3. You will see your 360 HDD connected on the main menu (We used a 120GB drive). Notice the red exclamation mark? That's a warning to say the drives security system is locked (!SECURITY : ENABLED + LOCKED). Select the drive and press enter.

4. Scroll down to Security Menu and press enter

7. Type 'Y" and press enter

8. Unlock completed successfully. Now press any key...

9. Security status now says Disabled. Press ESC.

10. The red exclamation mark is now gone and the security lock has been removed. You can now press ESC back to DOS and reboot your computer (If you disconnected your master boot hard drive remember to connect that back up and re-enable AHCI if you disabled it in step 1)

11. Connect the HDD to your Xbox 360 and Voila !

Even I wish I new about this tutorial a long time ago when my hdd had E69. I just sold the hdd for $2 and bought a new one. xD Soo Glad I knew how to transfer files because when a hard drive has e69 you can still take the files off with modio or horizon and then put the files on a new hard drive

You could've just soldered 2 pins on the hdd and it would work again
