You dont need to have the Altair armor for this. Progressing through the game will unlock different blades and upgrades. They are:

Blades Dual Blade, Poison Blade, and Pistol. All given to you by Leonardo.

Item Pouches- The three types of pouches are Medicine, Knife Belt and Poison Vial. Each has a large and a medium size, you need both. These are purchased from the tailor.

There are 4 types of Armor- Leather, Helmschmied, Metal and Missaglias. Each type of Armor has 4 parts- Greaves, Vambraces, Chest Guard and Spaulders. These are purchased from the blacksmith, which are the hammers on your map.
