I would have to say the potential is there but some companies would rather roll up the big bucks from fans that eat up anything that has their label on a product.
Obviously I'm talking about the Call of Duty franchise. I believe that they really haven't done anything wrong in their games but rather their attitudes in real life. They're company people, trying to get a profit from something they think they can use until the last drop is gone.
Instead, I say they should be researching ways to make greatly improved game engines. If they can rise 60 fps to 80 fps, that would be awesome. Maybe intergrate an Xbox exclusive, Kinect.
We should also be thinking of cross-platform gaming, have a PS3 user playing Black Ops with a PC user.
If companies don't get there act together, they my lose their fanbase to those who are smarter and take advantage of this time.

Yes, in my opinion, I think the future is always getting better
Graphics are getting better, games have more features, and hacking is starting to decrease. I do like modding but hacking has completely ruined Call of Duty 4.
Also, competition is pushing developers to make better and better games so that they can beat out the competition

Personally, I think that in the U.S, gaming may not last long if Obama is in office for another term.
Allow me to explain my reasoning. Michelle Obama wants all the children to get out, get fit and stay healthy. She campaigns to eliminate video games as a means of entertainment for children, in hopes to make the future generations of citizens not as 'bigger'/unhealthier as they are today. And behind her stands all of the concerned parents of the kids who watch E3 every year and play every featured game. All those parents have this weird obsession with making Mrs. Obama proud. They want to impress a woman that they may never meet.
You guys may think, "Well what's this TaylorSwift kid know about matters like this?" Well here's my answer. Its already happening. My little nephews and neices, who play baseball and participate in dance recitals, have had their gaming consoles snabbed. They're great kids, trust me, they are. But Mrs. president says that Gaming is BAD, so no more games for them.
Hopefully, if we get a new president this coming election, there won't be some crazy first lady trying to ruin all of our lives.
Again, this is only my opinion. Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down, Its Entirely up to you... Hope you enjoyed.

Thanks for participating to everyone who did.
As always there is no right or wrong answer, just what the consensus believes. With that said, you guys felt this was the best reply to this question.

Personal note, gonna ignore thumbs down when calculating in the future

Large wrote Well with gaming right now never reaching a peak gaming could be limitless as we know it.
It started in 2010 saying that this was going to be the biggest year of gaming and the kinect came out which just dominated wii and playstation move with hands free gaming jumping around or shooting people, or making custom firmwares for it and making your self in minecraft.
Now in 2011 you have even more content coming to xbox minecraft finally at the end of the year, youtube, na dwe already have facebook, now you can even play xbox live on your windows 7 phone and get achievmeants. Then the psp/phone is coming out which i imagine will also allow for online gaming.
The possibilities are limitless i mean i bet in the next 10 years the next generation of consoles will be 800$ over priced upgraded 360s that will offer what was offered in all 3 of these consoles out combined in one.
So in 50-100 years who knows controllers will be pointless and you will be playing with your mind.
