I downloaded the latest utilities drivers [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and it says those are out of date and those are the most recent ones I can find on the page

If you downloaded this one and it didnt work then I would suggest using the LiveUpdate tool to see if that finds newer versions.

alright i downloaded the live updates tool and it didnt work either. not sure what else i could do

Click the Start button and click the "Control Panel.
Select "Large icons" in the View by section, then click "Mouse" to launch the Mouse Properties box
Click the "Device Settings" tab and click the touchpad in the Devices box
Click Disable then ok

Not sure what the deal is then, I have an Asus laptop and when I do that I have a lot more options

I ended up figuring it out, the only thing is that I can't use the hotkey to lock it, meaning the FN+F9 combo.

Go to control panel and click "view by" and select large icons.

Now you should be able to click on mouse.

So I figured it out and it is now disabled, which is what I wanted.

But I can't seem to use my FN+F9 hotkey to enable/disable at will instead of having to go into mouse properties all the time.
