002 wrote You may think your firechicken is cool, but to me (a guy who isn't into cars), that car just blends into the crowd. The tried and true Mustang, Camaro, etc. stands out (not the ugly Camaro's like the lower 2k's or what ever). To be completely honest, your firebird looks like a teenage kids Craigslist special that was probably 3k or less. I'm sure to you (presumable a non truck guy), my trucks are nothing special to you either. The fact is, people know what a Mustang is, they generally don't know what a firebird is. This kid clearly just wants something that is flashy, everyone knows, and is viewed as expensive.

I agree with just about everything here. Many people were too young when the Firebirds their prime, and yes the 4th gen camaros are pretty ugly.

Mustangs are well known, Same with camaros.
- I only have older folks complimenting my car haha

Back to the original discussion for OP.

If you want my completely honest opinion, I think he is full of BS, and trying to look rich on a gaming forum. Let's break this down, he gets on a gaming forum to ask us (primarily a bunch of kids, a lot of which can't even drive) to look up Mustangs for him. He has enough thought to tell us what he wants and in what price range, however, all we know is he is from the US. What I see in the Seattle area may not matter, what you see in the Kansas city area may not matter, what the guy over there in Memphis sees may not matter. Bottom line, this kid is trying to look cool on the internet. If you have that kind of money, and know what you are looking for then you would go on Craigslist, or local dealership websites and look up the car you want. For extra credit you could also go to the dealer them selves.

To OP, in the even you are not full of BS, go ahead and buy that car. Why my sudden change of heart? Because now I realize without a bunch of idiots buying new cars, there wouldn't be much of a used car market in 10 years. Go buy that car for 22k, let me know when you sell it in a decade for less than a quarter of that.

To add, my brother bought his 2013 Mustang with 38k miles for 11,500. You can find cheaper vehicles.

Vexaah wrote If I were you, ditch the idea of a Mustang, you want something fast, then get and Impreza with a big bore exhaust, and tune it out over time, you can find cheap Impreza's on eBay.

Getting a Mustang for a first car is silly (IMO) if you wreck it insurance will be a bitch, drinks fuel like a bitch as well.

Not everyone wants a 4cyl turbo. Some guys want a V8. Love it when guys like yourself call mustangs slow and then try and tell op to get the craigslist special and put more money into it thats worth. (Not necessarily talking about the impreza, but in general.

So I think I am going to go with the 2014, however, I am not able to upgrade any parts more than that because they changed the model in 15. Is there really much of a difference between the 14 and 15? and should I get the 15 so I can later upgrade?

I absolutely hate when people say you shouldn't get a "nice" car for your first. It's all jealousy. You should've seen the faces on people when I rolled up to my highschool driving a brand new 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera S as a sophomore. Jealous people don't go anywhere in life so don't be one. Get whatever car you want, I think this Mustang GT would be awesome. Do you my brother and F the jealous broke boys.

This. This right here. I cannot stand when people say "omg don't buy brand new, you'll definitely total it". or "that's too much power for a kid" or "wow, such a spoiled rich kid" <--that's my favorite. To non car people, they dont understand some families passion for cars. My family is obsessed with driving nice and new cars. They put both me and my sister in one. I learned how to drive on my dads 400hp mustang. And it was my daily driver for a year before I got my car. (2014 Subaru STi) And not a single accident or fender bender. What my parents don't care for is technology. I don't have 70" inch flat screens all over my house and badass computers and iPhone 6s like most people here have. My family really only cares what we drive. And they taught me to be a very good driver.

People get so butthurt when you get a new car. First of all, you don't no what this kids job is or how long he has been saving for. I paid for $12k of my car and every single mod, insurance bill, and gas bill has been with my own money. Currently $10k deep into my car with mods alone. All my money. Don't believe me? I really don't care cause I've worked pretty hard to make my money these past 4 years or so.

"That's too much power. There's speed limits." Have you ever heard of a damn race track? Look it up. I raced my car at Sebring for 2 days and it was a freaking blast.

And please, can we stop the damn 4 banger VS. V8 bs going on? My car is a 4 banger and it has a super deep exhaust note to it and a nice rumble. I've gotten compliments from many people on it. If you're wondering, not all 4 cylinders sound like a '92 Honda civic with a 7 inch fart cannon. Evo's and STi's sound absolutely amazing and I'm sure there are plenty of other V8 owners that can respect that. Cars are meant for different purposes. An engine isnt the entire car. I beat up plenty of mustangs when I raced them at Sebring. Sure they got me on the straight, but I was passing them on the turns.

So many god damn car haters on this forum and the ignorance is through the roof. I love mustangs. A lot tbh. And I drive a "stupid ricey turbo'd 4 cylcinder". I love BMW's. I also love a nice lifted truck. I see cars on here I don't like. And guess what, I shut my mouth like a mature person. Half the people 16+ up on here act like they're 10 years old with no filter.

rant/

The simple fact is, kids will show off for friends, so it is better that they "show off" a 1990 Volvo rather than a new Mustang Maserati, etc. Not only that, there is no way in hell these kids are buying these cars by themselves. When someone doesn't have to work for something and it just falls in their lap, they won't respect it as much as the guy who worked for it. To add, how long do you think mommy and daddy will pay for your insurance on your Mustang? Maybe only until you are 18, at which point you won't be able to afford insurance. Like I said, I don't care either way, not my car, not my problem. Go ahead and have mommy and daddy buy you one, call me when you sell it in 10 years for 5k.

As for the year range, stick in the year ranges. Some parts may fit off of other year ranges, but as a general rule, parts only fit in that year range of the vehicle. For example, I have a '97 F-150, and my year range is '97-'03. I can't just go pull a motor out of an '04 even though the body style really didn't change a whole lot, and after all my truck has a 4.6L and that truck has a 4.6L. The biggest issue is 2V to 3V, then you have your wiring issues, mounting places for the tranny won't be the same, etc.
