the only good thing about using the external drive you don't loose your internal space, if you add 2tb you have 2.5tb unlike ps4 you have to replace the drive, and you loose that initial 500gb

They have sff 2tb external drives for cheap. I got one from best buy a few months ago for 79. worst case you can delete games that you have installed, and just re-install them later
