-Phoenix- wroteMPAA wrote This is just a rumour and it fails to mention that you can unplug the kinect and still use the Xbox One?You can turn it off and still use it. There is a setting on the Console that allows you to do so.
I realise this, but I would much rather have the proper security of just unplugging it, it is NOT a necessary part to keep the Xbox One working, MS should really just let people unplug it with the obvious exception of when they're playing a game that NEEDS it, like Kinect Sports for example.

I already pre ordered both systems so I dont really mind. This is awesome though. I love my Xbox 360 sooo much. I have been a member for 4 1/2 years. Xbox would honestly destroy playstation if they do this.

what this means...
No more always online requirement
The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
Region locks have been dropped
This isnt entirely true. There will still be region locks. They will be unlocked slowly but this happened to the 360. All restrictions added are on the developers not microsoft. Everything else was on point.

Wouldn't connecting to the internet only on setup still prohibit pirated games? Correct me if im wrong, but with the 360, once you dashboard up date once you get it, its no longer able to be j-tagged?

pretty much, and for the loan-game system checking. If Microsoft has confidence in their security system they can easily remove the DRM.

This is more than likely fake, the shared library requires online checks to make sure your not playing a game you shouldn't be, the console is built around DRM it won't be removed from the console just because of sony.
Why do you guys honestly care about DRM ? I am never offline on my Xbox so it will have no effect on me and makes no difference. But seriously i want to know why you guys don't like DRM

I don't believe it's to update the system, but to check if you have exchanged the license(s) with someone else so it can block you from said game?
On saying that, a 24hr check is a bit obsessive when a fortnightly or monthly check is more appropriate for people with less reliable internet providers?
