Don't worry, this isn't a rant against the word soccer. It's a rant against the people who get so offended over other countries, mainly the US, calling it "soccer."

I'm not trying to call out any particular country / residents out on this. I'm positive that people from different countries get just as annoyed. The only people I really ever talk to outside the US is in UK, I'm in no way trying to generalize.

It seems as though only a handful of people from England (that I've ever talked to) don't care what we call it in the US. I don't understand why people get so mad over the term, especially because the term originated from England.

US didn't even make up the term, we just use it since we already have a sport that we call "football."

Anyway, short rant over. I felt like I needed to say that. No matter where I go, YouTube, TTG, Reddit, anything, there's always someone getting extremely upset that someone called it soccer as opposed to football.

I see where you are coming from, it's just that people like to call things what they are used to; they don't like change. I myself am English, I am currently living in Australia, where they also call football, soccer. I have become used to calling it soccer just so these Aussies no what I'm talking about. People who insist on calling things by what they are used to are not open-minded and just very passionate. Don't be annoyed by them, it's just who they are. There are other things too, like the English call them trousers, and the Aussies call them pants; we do things differently, that's just how it goes.

Its the same as when people say us saying Football is wrong I have been told its not football its Soccer on many occasions. Goes both ways. Personally to me Football is where you kick a ball against 11 other players along the floor and no other same as the other way. People getting upset about it is quite pointless.

I totally agree.

No matter what is called, it is still played the very same.

We just say it a different way, it's really the same game, with the same principles. So I've never seen a point in arguing about it.
Either way, online arguments are stupid, almost any way you put it.
