You're strong enough to take your hand off your heart for the pledge because you don't think god should be in it, but you still say the whole thing every day?
I don't stand or say anything. I don't really care. The country is great but I'm not reciting a poem every morning so everyone knows I'm not a communist.
Not saying the pledge doesn't make you a communist. Plus communism itself works but when your country is run by dictators such as Cuba, or North Korea then its bad.
That... that was a joke.

The idea of communism is not bad in itself, but human nature takes over and ruins the principles of the idea. Communism will never function as intended.

Okay, I'm going to post this and it hope everyone will not think down on me.
I myself do not stand for the pledge, I believe the line "one nation, under god" goes against freedom of religion, seeing as I am atheist. I know like Axe said, it may be disrespectful but I support and am very grateful every second if my life for what our troops do for us.
Another note, atheist. People bash on me and ask how I don't believe in god, I used to believe in god, used to be a church going Christian. I just don't see the reason to believe, there is more proof of aliens existence than god himself. That is just me though, another thing, I DO NOT look down on anyone because we don't share the same beliefs.
Again, please don't look down on me for this post.

You should still stand for the pledge, but you don't have to say those specific words or any of the pledge. By not standing you are NOT respecting what our troops do.

I don't think people should be forced to stand to do it. When I was in high school I was coincidentally in Government when they did the morning announcement along with the pledge and I would never stand. The teacher would get mad at me and try to force me to stand until I told her my rights..... never bugged me again about it.

Oh yeah I should have worded a bit better, I'll stand for the whole pledge until the line "one nation, under god" that's when I sit down.

Our troops are the only reason you are able to live free in this country.
They are directly responsible and not standing and respecting that freedom is not respecting what they do for you.

That's fine, I consider that respectful. I just cant stand those that don't stand at all and refuse to remain silent.
