I myself do not stand for the pledge, I believe the line "one nation, under god" goes against freedom of religion, seeing as I am atheist. I know like Axe said, it may be disrespectful but I support and am very grateful every second if my life for what our troops do for us.
Another note, atheist. People bash on me and ask how I don't believe in god, I used to believe in god, used to be a church going Christian. I just don't see the reason to believe, there is more proof of aliens existence than god himself. That is just me though, another thing, I DO NOT look down on anyone because we don't share the same beliefs.
Again, please don't look down on me for this post.
You should still stand for the pledge, but you don't have to say those specific words or any of the pledge. By not standing you are NOT respecting what our troops do.
Oh yeah I should have worded a bit better, I'll stand for the whole pledge until the line "one nation, under god" that's when I sit down.
That's fine, I consider that respectful. I just cant stand those that don't stand at all and refuse to remain silent.
Why should we stand up, look at the flag, put our hand over our hearts, and recite a poem every morning? Replace the flag with a nazi symbol and you've got something straight out of the 40's.
Ridiculous.
