I would call it a can of "pop" rather than a can of "soda" if I was asking for a fizzy drink but I normally just call it by its name rather than either "soda" or "pop". I feel like "soda" is an American thing and "pop" is what us UK bois (and gals) call it. |

It's definitely soda. Although I traveled to the east coast when I was younger around 13 and everybody out there called it pop. Guess it's just an east coast vs. the rest of the world thing. |

Where I'm from, it was always coke. "Do you want Coke?" That is specific to Coca Cola. "Do you want a coke?" That is asking if you want any type of soda. I made a friend through online games that it bothered him a little when I would say I got a coke and it'd be a Dr. Pepper or Pepsi or something and so I felt like I could use either soda or pop to be more specific, and I went with soda since then. |

I'm from the UK and I don't know anyone that calls it soda or pop.
I just use the name of the drink lol if I have a coke I don't say I'm having a soda I just say I'm having a coke, maybe I'm just boring old fart. I mean my nieces call it fizzy. |
