The next consoles from Sony and Microsoft will not launch until three years' time, predicts GameStop.

Senior executives from the US retail giant made the claim during a series of investor meetings, according to financial research firm Baird.

A statement read: "Management does not expect new hardware consoles from Microsoft and Sony until 2014; however, a successful launch of Nintendo's Wii U in 2012 could add pressure to accelerate a hardware refresh.

"GameStop is also upbeat on the coming launch of Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld gaming device, which has a $249 price-point within the reach of many gamers.

"As for the motion controller launched a year ago, management indicated more software is needed to maintain sales momentum."

BraddieBoi This is too long.. the original xbox 360 can't keep up with 3 years ahead.. think about games like La Noire.. it has come in several discs because the xbox DL DVD's that games are put on can't hold over 7.5GB of data

There is NO such thing as an Xbox 720.

The only reason it has the name xbox360 is because when it was in production it was competing with the PLAYSTATION 3! And they didn't want to name it the "Xbox 2" because it would sound outdated.

Besides, Xbox 720 just sounds ridiculous.

And NO. The Xbox 720 is not real. They are saying that they will release a new console in late 2012. That's all they are saying.
