Battlefield 3 took market share from Call of duty - EA

Despite Activision’s latest Call of Duty setting entertainment launch records for the third consecutive year, rival EA was successful in capturing a slice of the franchise’s pie this year with Battlefield 3, COO Peter Moore is confident.

“I think when the dust fully settles, maybe when we’re looking at the end of our fiscal year, we’ll do an analysis and I think we will have taken [market] share,” Moore tells MCV. “I don’t think there’s any doubt about that, unless everything BF3 sells is just incremental.”

The rivalry of the shooter giants, which mainly manifested in verbal back and forths initiated and kept alive by EA, also benefited “gamers and the industry,” Moore adds.

“Together we’ve grown the genre enormously. 10m sold in and 5m sold through doesn’t come out of nowhere – if we haven’t gained share, that means in the first week we’ve added 5 million new FPS gamers.” That, or a lot of people simply bought both shooters.

1: Skyrim is nominated for top game of 2011, not CoD or BF3
2: Skyrim had a prequel, and so did MW3, BF3 had zero% base start so that means BF3 had to get all fans hooked in one game. MW series has been out how long?(5 years) 5 more years than BF to get a base to start with story wise. BTW MW3 only advertised multiplayer because they knew their story skills were garbage.

BF3 had no prequel? Have you not played BF2 of BF1

I can't believe that people can have such stupid arguments over a game, spamming all over the topic, everyone here would get mad if a call him "kid", well guess what, you're acting like one if you argue over a game -_- people should finally understand this, CoD and BF = two different styles of warfare! why would you compare them?! It's like comparing Forza and NFS! I can't believe how stupid some people are! That's what made me leave this site in the first place.

Me personally, I like BF3 more just because It's not as stupid as MW3. All people do in MW3 is run around with Sub-machine guns and drop shot. This takes literally no skill. I have a 2.0 K/D in MW3 and I barely **** play that dumb ass game. BF3 actually takes skill. You can't just go run in the middle of the damn map with a PP90M1 w/ Rapid Fire and Spray kids down. You have to play tactically and actually take your time and pick your shots. Maybe if MW3 didn't have so many kids camping in corners and using some gay ass Sub-machine guns O would like it, but **** it. What eva

what MW has the best story mode ever and you can ask anyone that and they will tell you

mw3 and bf3 both had short shitty campaigns and were both to easy on veteran difficutly

Ok, All Battlefield games are great, and are all totally different from any COD game...
All COD games are great, and they are all totally different from any Battlefield

This adds up to... STOP **** RAGING OVER TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT GAMES THAT ARE IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM SIMILAR TO EACH OTHER EXCEPT FOR THE PERSPECTIVE... Both games are great in their own respect ... it is a matter of opinion as to whether or not you play one more than the other!
