Analyst – GTA V will outsell the next Call of Duty

EEDAR’s Jesse Divnich has tipped Rockstar to end Call of Duty’s three year streak at the top of the annual charts.“It goes without saying that GTA V will be one of the year’s biggest releases, but I will take it one step farther and say GTA V will be 2012′s biggest release, the analyst told IndustryGamers.

Dont get me wrong, Call of Duty will undoubtedly be huge, as it is every year and it may even grow, but if I had to call what will be a photo finish race, I will go with GTA V.”

Grand Theft Auto IV has shifted over 22 million copies worldwide in the three years since its launch. That said, each of the three most recent Call of Duty releases – 2009′s Modern Warfare 2, 2010′s Black Ops, and 2011′s Modern Warfare 3 – have set entertainment launch records, outselling not just games but films, books and music.

Grand Theft Auto V was formally announced in November, although beyond the first trailer, Rockstar won’t tell us anything.

shadow1 Here we go with another fan war. Of **** course COD will win because it is popular with the children. The people who realised it has been around for waaay too long will probably not buy it because its too easy to kill somebody now.

no 2 different genres and GTA is not that competitive its a fun for all game


when you think of GTA its not a game that you hear people hating on ! I see every 18+ year old owning this game as well as the little kids who parents dont give what they do. Whats not fun about robbing banks and doing whatever you want, can you really take another year of cod with the same EXACT game modes, same exact engine, same exact everything... ill buy cod dont get me wrong, but at the end of the year, gta will have all of my play time.

I hope it does, it has a small chance I just think COD is the same thing over and over they don't even try anymore i mean free roam should beat FPS but it doesn't FPS has it's limits but with free roam you can do anything or go any where really. GTA is the best game series ever I think, they just make the game the best they can and leav it at that.

woah there caps lock kid, gta4 was quite disappointing.. while stories were decent it lacks lifespan.. there wasn't much you could do in gta4, no buildings to buy no businesses & not many buildings to go inside to mess about.. i was expecting malls like vice city & big countryside areas found in san andreas. so after story mode your left with a giant empty city of crap. except online play which does suck.

looking at the gta5 trailer it does remind me of the awesomeness vice city & san andreas had so i believe this will be a HUGE game than gta4 was & should beat cod.

cod is on a decline, while sales will still remain high, the gameplay itself in cod games get worse every year due to the fact that the devs left in activision suck & have no choice but to leech off the same product that was created by ppl that they fired. but we all still play it because even though cod is the same every year no other online shooter is worth playing.

sorry bf3 fanboys but sales state its true.
