EA exec: It is unlikely the next Xbox will play Xbox 360 games

An executive for Electronic Arts has recently claimed that we should not expect Xbox 360 games to run on the next-gen Xbox, nor should owners of the next Playstation expect to play PS3 games on the PS4.

Sources report that EA chief financial officer, Blake Jorgensen, said "An important thing to remember is that next-gen consoles will most likely not be backwards compatible… And if you play multiplayer on a game, you'll most likely not be able to play with someone on a different generation."

well, it won't be stopping me.most people will probably keep their 360s, so just use that.i know for one thing i'm not getting rid of my 360 on the x8 release.

Not really, do YOU play any xbox games on your 360 or ps2/ps1 games on your ps3? Chances are you don't because the majority of console player (I said majority) are only playing xbox 360/ps3 games. You will learn to forget about your old games soon

This shouldn't be a deciding factor on whether you purchase the next generation console/s. But I can't imagine them not backwards-compatible.
the thing is that its basically an xbox but with better parts why should they make it so it wont play older xbox games that we bought

It'd better. Some of the greatest games are for the 360 (Fallout 3, Skyrim, GTA, etc.) but if the new generation of xbox cannot play those, then those games will either be forgotten, people will stay on 360, or people will go to PC, as those games are better on there anyway.

This is what im thinking GTA is delayed until September so unless the 720 or X8 is released before then i don't know

It won't kill profit for either of them, it'll boost them because you have to buy new games.
