Xbox One will not suport current-gen gaming headsets

According to an IGN source, the new data port is indicative of a new Microsoft strategy to take control of the accessory market.
The new port means that current headsets by leading accessory manufacturers, including Turtle Beach, will not work with Xbox One.

According to the source, the propriety data port means Microsoft can control the production of third party peripherals with licensing and authentication standards that manufacturers will be required to meet.

When questioned on the subject, a Microsoft spokesperson said the company will share fresh details on how third party peripherals will work in the future.

"We are working with 3rd party headset manufacturers to create new headsets that will take full advantage of the Xbox One technology," the rep said.

Xbox One will come bundled with a new iteration of its Kinect technology. The hardware features voice technology which will allow chat both in-game and via Skype.

This has really annoyed me, i can't be asked to buy a new headset just for the Xbox one, i already have triton ax720's and turtle beach x11's.

Is it just me or is everyone here dumb as ****? Microsoft will include a head set, so you just put that around your neck and put your other headsets into your tv's audio out. Thats my plan.

My local Gamestop told me that my headset was worth about $3 since they had to treat them like a normal headset. I had turtle beaches! Aside from that, the PS4 is looking more likely to me now. Honestly Microsoft is getting away from the gamers. What happened to the old days where gaming companies where so focused on the gamers? Microsoft is trying to make the XBOX ONE more for social entertainment. Last time I checked, if I wanted to be social and entertained, I'd take may ass to the movies or go hang out with friends. I don't use my current 360 to get on Facebook or use twitter or any of that other crap. I get on my 360 to play games. Microsoft is greedy, they proved this at the unveiling of the XBOX ONE, along with the comments they made afterwards.
