Sony declined to bundle PS4 camera in order to best Xbox One price

Sources close to IGN have said the PlayStation 4 camera was nixed a bundled add-on with every PS4 in order to knock $100 off the original price of $499. Which is the same price as Xbox One.

Sony only informed its retail partners the camera would not be included, but never specified a lower price point in order not to tip off Microsoft before its own reveal, according to the report.

This goes against what various Sony execs have previously said, particularly Shuhei Yoshida.

IGN notes that it may have ‘beaten’ Microsoft by making the camera optional, but it has also diminished consumer adoption of the product, not to mention creating an inconsistent software support.

I think it's for interactive games like dancing games.


Hopefully they can use the camera for Non-Casual games this generation. That would be a major plus when it comes to selling consoles. I myself would like to see a fps or RPG where you can interact with the interface or control your character.

Playstation Camera has two 1080p cameras and voice recognition.


but does the ps4 cam move... no, the Kinect automatically adjusts itself to where you are so it can accurately feed readings from you, it also has the most accurate sensor in the market, the ps cam doesn't


The thing is though not everyone wants the Kinect or PlayStation Camera. I know I don't want the Kinect, it's going to just take up space.


I myself don't want a Kinect or a PlayStation Camera. I would like to simply sit down and play games in a simple manor without worrying about any of that stuff. That is why i buy a console instead of a PC

It also has inferred sensors that allow two players to switch seats on a couch and the Kinect with switch the screen to where the controllers are located so I'm sitting on the right of my friend and the screen for my game is on the right and I go to the left of my friend my screen will swap with his and his will be on the right and mine will be on the left, PS4 camera does not do that
