PS4 and Xbox One are 'essentially the same', says John Carmack
PS4 and Xbox One are "essentially the same" in terms of performance, according to id Software co-founder John Carmack.
Speaking during his keynote at QuakeCon 2013 keynote (via Gamasutra), the lead Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake programmer said that while he hasn't "done really rigorous benchmarking", he was surprised to find how similar the two new consoles are.
"I haven't done really rigorous benchmarking [but] they're very close and they're both very good," he said.
"It's almost amazing how close they are in capabilities, how common they are."
Carmack went on to say that the initial backlash to Xbox One was "a bit on the side of a witch hunt", adding: "The future is obvious right there, and it will be good for us in general. A lot of these things are inevitable."
Carmack was also critical of Kinect, which he described as "sort of like a zero-button mouse with a lot of latency... Kinect still has some fundamental limitations with the latency and framerate... It's fundamentally a poor interaction."
Xbox One will be available in 21 markets this November. The Xbox One price has been set at £425 / €499 / $499.
Sony has confirmed a "holiday 2013" PS4 release date in Europe and the US and a PS4 price of £349 / €399 / $399.

They are the same. Both perform the same tasks. The only different things about them are minor.

The only difference between the two are the controllers, the gamers, and some of the games.

They pretty much are. Besides the small things like games and things, they do the same thing.

Watch out in case your tv or bed is watching you too, you can never be too sure.
Why are you so important to them? I doubt they would care on watching you. Unless your doing something bad? Also if they really wanted to they would check your cell phone, computer, etc. And I agree with what Carmack said

OmittingCoder I don't know why people are still buying consoles. The only reason I'd buy a console is because of the exclusives. Besides that you should just get a PC.
We buy console because
1) we like wireless controllers
2) Playing on actual TV's
3) We're not introverts
4) Our friends have console
5) Xbox dashboard is so easy and well set up
6) you can play on a couch and relax

F-18WavelengthZukoDr-J-CP Except that the online experience is far superior for Xbox and the UI is much friendlier on Xbox....
That's true totally forgot to mention that
Yea but some people fail to realize that just because PS has slightly better graphics doesn't mean it will be better. Because graphics for shared titles will be the same.
Exactly! That's why I'm going the Microsoft again. They know what they're doing.
Sony have been in the console game longer than Mico$oft.
That doesn't mean anything. It's the company with money that can adapt to new age and also evolve to a better console (Not saying Sony isn't). I just feel Microsoft is going to make a slightly better console. Still both are great consoles though.
