Crytek takes websites down for 'suspicious activity'

4.6
Crytek (Crysis, Ryse: Son of Rome) has temporarily shut down four of its sites due to "suspicious activity" and will require users to change their passwords once the sites are restored, an email sent to Crytek account holders stated today.

The developer "acted quickly to take those websites offline for security reasons" notes an email sent to registered users of those sites, as reported by VG24/7.

Crytek.com, mycryengine.com, crydev.net, and mycrysis.com were all taken offline in response to the activity.

Mortar It is refreshing to see that they responded quickly to the incident, although I wonder what this "Suspicious activity" was.

My best guess is that someone was trying to access user accounts with a password generator or something.

ShadowBoltDashie Websites have seemed to have been getting tampered with recently. One of Nintendo's websites got hacked, Blizzard had a security warning and I think another site that is used constantly by gamers was tampered or threatened.

I haven't looked at Blizzard's site recently although when Diablo 3 released there were constant claims that people were getting hacked through Blizzards site and accounts were constantly stolen. But, I feel like it was more of the users fault, (etc. giving their log on information for Gold/Weapons/other means.)

Around last month is when they had a warning going on. I haven't gone on Blizzard at all as I don't play their games but there was an article regarding it.

Hate it when this happens, but I guess you guys would rather have no support for a few days than having your accounts being put into question?
