Microsoft: Xbox One is worth $100 more than PlayStation 4

Xbox director says company is not stressing over being the most expensive console this holiday season; "I just believe that we're going to have a better system," says Albert Penello.

The Xbox One will be $100 more than the PlayStation 4 and $200 more than the Wii U this holiday season, but Microsoft is not stressing over its stance as the most expensive console.


"It’s up to us to prove that it’s worth $100 more. I think it is," senior director of product planning and management at Xbox Albert Penello told GameSpot today at PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington.

Penello said the suite of games and services Microsoft is offering with the Xbox One is stronger than the competition.

"I think we do more. I think our games are better. I think as people start to experience Kinect and see what it can do using voice, I think that’s better," he added. "I think the ability to have an all-in-one system where you can plug in the TV, that’s better. I think we’ll have a better online service."

"I just believe that we’re going to have a better system."

Ultimately, consumers want to buy the "best thing," Penello said. The Xbox One's stance as the most premium console this holiday season won't hold it back, he argued.

"$100, when you’re talking $400 vs. $500 [shrugs shoulders]. I don’t believe it’s going to be the deal-killer," he said.

The Xbox One launches in November for $500.

No they won't. And if they did sony is investing millions on special servers like microsoft to support online gaming.

NWO5150 I can't trust Sony after Anonymous got them... I'll stick to the safe side of things which is better imo anyways.

anonymous could do the same thing to microsoft, they both have very good security
and anonymous must have been really ticked of for them to do it to sony.


I thought the FBI got them, i remember a classmate muttering about it :/

You forgot the free game it has, the kinect, and usually free gold. In the end it will be the better console :)

I really don't see how that price is a deal breaker, I think $500 is worth it regardless what other consoles go for.

You do realize you just said PS4 is better Xbox > PS4 meaning you think PS4 is better although i do think Xbox is the better console in some ways and its what i will be sticking with although both consoles will be amazing


You do realize your incorrect on that as it reads xbox is greater than ps4. The larger side being greater in size as in 5>4.

Right thats why the PS4 bundle they announced with its caMera is the same price as the xbox one. So in theory anyones choice being made on price alone is invalid.


You are correct sir. You took the words right out of my mouth. Sony's PS4 "bundle", that comes with everything that every Xbox One includes, is the same price as the Xbox One. Plus the Kinect 2.0 is immeasurably more advanced than the PS eye(camera) and both will include a "free" game. With that in mind, there honestly is no difference in price.

Agreed, kinect is much improved this time around, honestly not bashing PS4 EYE but that thing looks like a thicker version of the first Wii's sensor bar. but i can say i know nothing about the eye, as i don't follow PS4 news that close so it may be better than it looks.
