Xbox boss 'hopes to bring' Gears of War to Xbox One

A key Xbox exec has addressed the future of the Gears of War franchise on Xbox One.

Speaking in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, translated by DualShockers, Microsoft's Game Studios VP, Phil Spencer indicated that while the platform holder would like to see Gears return on its next console, the decisions is ultimately up to developer Epic Games.

"Gears of War is developed by Epic Games, and they've been our partners for a long time on Xbox 360," he said. "You should ask Epic Games about what they want to do.

"We haven't announced anything yet about Gears of War, but we hope to bring it to Xbox One in some form. However, there's nothing more I can tell you at this time."

Key members of the Gears of War development team, including series creator and Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski, are no longer at the studio. In October 2012, Bleszinski resigned from the Gears of War studio some two decades after joining.

This was followed by Epic Games senior producer Chris Wynn, who left to join BioWare's Mass Effect 4 team.

Gears of War director of production Rod Fergusson left the studio in August 2012.

A number of developers from Epic Games' Poland studio People Can Fly, which developed spin-off Gears of War: Judgment, also departed in October, before the resignation of board member and long-term consultant Mike Capps.

Why is it I see this Sony fanboy "Pashtun" talking trash in every Xbox article? Just go back to the Playstation news and bother them. I don't go over to the PS articles and talk trash.

After what they did with gears of war judgment, they lost Majority of their fans and pissed a bunch of people off, I'm die hard gears of war fan, but they're gonna have to do something crazy to get me to buy the game. Was very disappointed with judgment, the game was horrible!

If they are going to make a new Gears of War they better make it like GOW 3 because Judgment was the worst GOW so far.

Gears of War is finished, that was the main reason I stayed with xbox was just to play that game, it was the best. I highly doubt they could revive it if they ever considered releasing another one, judgment was a big disappointment and that ruined the entire gears franchise for me.

But hey... hopefully a miracle happens and I'm drawn back to it.
