Battlefield 4: Double XP week planned as compensation for outages

Battlefield 4 developer Dice has announced plans to host a double XP week as compensation for the shooter's troubled launch.

From November 28 until December 5, players will earn Double XP for every multiplayer match they complete, announced Dice boss Karl Magnus Troedsson in a statement.

Players will also receive a special weapon upgrade as an additional treat: "On December 5 we will give all players that log in to Battlefield 4 multiplayer a M1911 pistol scope," said Troedsson. "This special sidearm scope, previously reserved for our DICE developers, has a 3X zoom and is available for all classes in Battlefield 4."

The game has been plagued with various critical issues since launch, including server instability, corrupt save data, XP loss and complete crashes.

"The game has experienced some turbulence during the launch period," admitted Troedsson. "While some platforms have had only minor problems, others have had more than their fair share of issues.

"Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority. In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets - and exceeds - your expectations."

Developer Dice said it has fixed the "most common" stability issues with the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 via a server-side 'hotfix' on Friday. A full title update is scheduled for release on Monday, November 25.

Ryc I played all week for that Double XP I did amazing.


Did you enjoy the last day without any issues? Lol. I played like three days of it and played Call of Duty: Ghosts in the end.

You're forgetting one tiny thing. The issues was putting people off the game, a lot.

Yeah it would be great, all of the CoDs have 2X XP, all it really does is help you level, I would like maybe a new gun or so, or a new camo!


Just some sort of temporary addition to the game like double xp but different would be cool. Like Tanks for CoD or battleships for BF4


Yeah it would be great, but they really never do it, I only seen this happen one time and that was with Black Ops 2 when they added the Peacekeeper.


That stayed in the game though. I was thinking more temporary like X2 XP


Yeah I understand, like for a week only add "Flyable Jets," or anything that would be able to be controllable by a player.
