Xbox One: free game for those affected by hardware issues

Microsoft will give a free digital game to those whose Xbox One has gone on the blink,, allowing them to get some gaming in even without a functioning optical drive.

The news comes via an email from a Microsoft support representative published by Polygon.

“While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game. We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios,” the representative said.

Xbox One digital launch titles include Zoo Tycoon, Powerstar Golf, and Kinect Sports Rivals.

Microsoft has confirmed that a very small number of Xbox One units are experiencing hardware problems related to the optical drive, and promised to “take care” of those affected.

I honestly never heard of this issue.


It was UK amazon that got this problem.

Wish Sony would do that.


They will probably give them a really small game or an arcade game. Something that doesnt mean much lol

All the bugs and glitches will never be completely gone.
The Xbox 360 has been out for nearly a decade and there is still bugs that are being patched once or twice a month.

I will be doing the same thing. I am not gunna get one that is all buggy so you might as well just wait

I mean they should since its there console that is broken.
