'Minecraft' creator says no plans for a Wii U version

Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson addressed recent rumors Friday that a Wii U version of the popular open-world sandbox game was in the works. While he did put the kibosh on the rumor, he did leave a glimmer of hope for owners of the Nintendo console.

"I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraft," Persson stated on Twitter account.

"I agree a Wii U version would make sense, [by the way]," the Mojang co-founder continued. "The only reason for no current plans is we've got too much work already. I

It actually wouldn't be a bad idea. The gameplay mechanics fit the Wii U's gamepad.

Ex.) Using the crafting table will make it appear on the gamepad and you use the touch screen to operate it.
