PSN goes down for 5 hour plus maintenance today

Sony has warned gamers that certain elements of the PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance today for over five hours. This information was garnered from a official post on the PlayStation forums, it went on to detail that the PS Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management will be under maintenance during 16:30-22:00 UK, 08:30-14:00 Pacific Time and 11:30-17:00 Eastern Time. Good news though, if you have signed into PSN since March 6th you should be able to access online multiplayer and third party apps like Netflix during the planned maintenance.

In order to access online game play and partner apps during this routine maintenance, we ask that you please sign in to the network prior to Monday, March 10th.Sony

Maintenance helps your subscription and console become a lot better, without maintenance the console will not be as great. Look at it this way you go to an amusement park and the roller coaster is down for maintenance, well if there was no maintenance then the ride would be broken down for months on the end and maybe even close down.


I see your point but they should do it like internet services do and do the maintenance between the hrs of 1 am to 5 am. When there is very little people online and not in the middle of the day.


yes but you have to think of the other time zones as well it will be the middle of the day somewhere

-CP PSN needs to try to find a way to stay online and still do maintenance. At least Microsoft keeps most people online during their servicing. Looks like I won't use my PS4, except for Netflix today.....

Also even on Xbox you get kicked offline multiple times through maintenance, it is hard to keep people online during that time.


No you don't lol you get kicked once to fetch the update that's all >:)


OT: this is kinda silly 5 hours? that's quite some time, don't bother saying "WELL G0 0UT SIDE U NERD" because you will just look silly

I don't see why they can't work on it behind the scenes and just roll out an update like xbox does. It would save a lot of downtime.

you know if you do daily maintenance to a few servers at a time it wont cause it to go down this is the second time PS4 has went down for this reason. :(
