Microsoft has announced that they intent to start providing refunds to those who are currently paid Xbox Live Gold subscribers and wish to revert to gold if they only use entertainment applications now not behind the golden paywall. Gamers who wish to cancel and get a refund have until August 31st 2014 to ask Microsoft for a return on their membership.

Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends,” reads the updated FAQ.

Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests require six to eight weeks for processing. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible for a refund.Microsoft

xSTaTiCBLuEx The fact that you still have to pay for gold on the XBOX 360 is an outrage when we know the are preparing to close all servers for it and stop all servicing for it. Disgusted...the fee is supposed to be for maintenance and the use of the servers etc. (although game devs pay for those too..) so in the end we will be paying your for the sake of it...

In theory, yeah. But where do you buy $40 XBL cards? Already like the sound of this.


the exchange rate might not be as high as you hope. and the system knows if you entered a 3 month or 12 month so you might just get $40 back i bet there team thought of any exploits and fixed it so you couldn't exploit thier system

My brother only really uses his PS3 to watch TV and everything else, he hardly plays games on it. So for people doing the same with Xbox, that's pretty cool
