No single-player campaign mode for Black Ops 3 on PS3 and Xbox 360

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will only have multiplayer and zombie mode on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The announcement popped up on the Call of Duty community blog, and states that, “The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”

So if you pick up Black Ops 3 on PS3 or Xbox 360, you’ll only be able to play the multiplayer mode and the zombies mode.

The last gen versions will also be lacking in “features built to leverage the next generation hardware like the new Weapon Paint Shop and the new suite of eSports tools [which] will only be available on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.”

With that in mind, the RRP for the game on older platforms is $49.99 and will include a “bonus download for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops (bonus download availability may vary by region)”.

I don’t know that many CoD players care that much about the campaign, so is the absence of it something that they’ll be upset about? Should we all have switched over to this gen already anyway, almost two years into this console cycle? Let us know what you think about this move in the comments below.

Older gens have lack of support for the newer games. That is why they have to upgrade there consoles. They aren't doing this for money it's just the things they are doing the older gens can't handle it.


The PS3 is 9 years old and the 360 is 10 years old. When the PS2 was 9 years old it was 2009!! Nobody ever expected it to compete with the PS3, so why are people expecting the PS3/360 versions to compete with the current gen? It's pure stupidity.

The 360/PS3 can't HANDLE the campaign. It's not Treyarch's fault the hardware is outdated.

It's not the "last gen" consoles holding back the "current gen" ones, it's the hardware limitations of them. The devs don't magically have some "UNLOCK ALL POWER" button for the consoles.


This is not true. A good example of this is Ghost. That game looks the same on last gen as it does on current gen. Ghost was designed with last gen still in mind. Advanced warfare and Black Ops 3 were made for newer gen, and a outside company was paid to port the game over to last gen.

It is ridiculous to say last gen ins't holding back last gen. The last gen consoles have almost a quarter of the specs that the current gen has.


CoD is bad in the first place.
They keep going away from what fans want like WaW remake or whole new WW2 games.

They do not have the time in their dev schedule to do so.


Why would they waste time remaking a game? Look at the whole franchise. The whole call of duty name has just been the same damn game re-skinned to look like shit ever since MW2.


Exactly. A revamped CoD4 or WaW with many new features would be great as long as they kept the maps, perk system etc. the 3 5 7 killstreaks. Just add more maps on top of it along with maybe new guns. Tons of other guns in WW2 that were never in the game. Or at least do another WW2 game. Hell even a WW1 lol.


So basically people have only started speaking up about remakes recently, this game has been in development for over 2 years ffs. They've listened to the community and done a hell of a lot for the fans on this game. Just wait and see. Oh, and just because YOU guys might want an older game that doesn't mean everybody does. Smart to be honest, not to include campaign. Don't think the next cod will be on 360 prob smart that they try to slow down 360 production.

I believe this is the right thing to do, they have stated that they could not stretch the new game to play as its meant to be played on xbox 360 or ps3 which basically means its time for everyone who loves cod that much to finally upgrade for good to next-gen, otherwise be forced to buy a half hearted representation of the full game.
