Electronic Arts is really pushing to gain ground in the battle for FPS multiplayer popularity. Speaking with MCV, EA Europe senior VP Jens Uwe Intat proclaimed that March's launch of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be the publisher's "first strong attack" launched on Call of Duty. By that stream of logic, we're guessing the Medal of Honor reboot would be the second? Intat believes that if any ...read more

Nintendo appears to have made the first comment about a successor to their popular DS. Speaking to Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata (as first translated by Siliconera, with clarification from Wired's Chris Kohler over Twitter) mentioned a follow-up to the DS would feature higher-resolution visuals (no surprise) and a motion sensor of some sort. Iwata did ...read more

Sometime next year, PlayStation 3 will receive a firmware update to display 3D movies and video games. Avatar: The Game is one of the first 3D-enabled games to arrive at retail, but it won't be the last and it's possible that publishers could release patches to add 3D to already released games. Like, for example, Super Stardust HD. Sony briefly showed a clip of Super Stardust HD, the ...read more

While Microsoft's CES announcement that Xbox Live "is now an active community of over 20 million people" is somewhat blunted by Sony's claim of 38 million PlayStation Network accounts (though if our dozens of collective PSN accounts are any indication, some of us have more than one), Redmond did have some other numbers to share regarding Xbox and Xbox Live during tonight's CES keynote. First, ...read more

EA Sports president Peter Moore recently restated the publisher's commitment to golfer Tiger Woods in a blog post, despite the once pristine athlete's incredibly public fall from grace. Moore reaffirmed that EA's relationship with Woods has always been "rooted in golf" and that the company "didn't form a relationship with him so that he could act as an arm's length endorser." As for Tiger's ...read more

If it weren't for the fact that the recent "Andrew Brown asks" is a featured piece on UK-based MCV, the answers to his questions repeatedly starting with "Whilst" would have likely tipped us off to the Britishness of the feature and all involved. Both Sony's Ray Maguire and Nintendo's David Yarnton employ the subordinating conjunction whilst responding to questions about everything from the ...read more
